Metallurgy in the Ain is a varied sector with a large engineering workforce, dominated by the automobile and heavy goods vehicle industries, leading to numerous subcontracting activities.

The specialities of the Ain, at the heart of a region dominated by the metallurgy and engineering sector, are refrigeration and industrial coachbuilding, as well as the production of moulds for the plastics industry.
