"Since its creation in 1964, COMATEL has made its mark as a precursor and confirmed its role at the heart of the industry with two main facets: industrial electrical equipment, which has evolved in the direction of robotics - and in particular for almost all car manufacturers throughout the world - and the production of electrical bundles which has evolved in the direction of total connectivity with, for example, control systems for high tension stations for the distribution of energy. Today, COMATEL has an annual turnover of over 30 million euros, of which 90% is derived from exports."
"The concentration of industrial electrical and electronic know how in the Belley region (1400 jobs) is the result of local industrial history, and began with the implantation of PINGON, which manufactured tower cranes. In 1964, in association with Mr Coste - we had both worked in the PINGON factory - we created COMATEL in order to produce electrical equipment. This new company expanded extremely rapidly and significantly. It spread quickly and around ten new companies were created in electricity, electronics, connector industries and associated sectors.
Today, the evolution of COMATEL is once again being propelled forwards swiftly by globalisation. This globalisation could prove positive for the future provided we work tirelessly in order to maintain a technological advantage in all our fields of activity. Today, we know that 80% of our activities will be replaced within five years. Along with a number of other companies, we have firmly established a foundation of technological expertise in the Bugey region, with a broad range of highly innovative activities.
