The Guilloteau Dairy cares for the environment

Every year, no less than 3,000 tons of cheese leaves the production lines of the Guilloteau dairy, based in Belley. The production is highly controlled and monitored, and takes place in listed buildings subject to declaration.

The equipment meets the very highest standards both in terms of quality of production and food hygiene standards. But in terms of environmental management, the management team of the Guilloteau Dairy believes that even more progress can be made.

"In common with many SMEs, we do not possess a structure entirely devoted to environmental concerns", explains Yves Careil, technical director. But the company is now taking on a number of initiatives. "We have launched a risk assessment study of our aero-refrigeration towers, and tested for ammonia," explains Yves careil. These two initiatives have opened the door to a voluntary move in the direction of environmental management, a policy reflected in the systematic recuperation of cardboard packaging for recycling. And now?

"It is likely that we will now set our sights on obtaining the environmental certification ISO 14001", announced Yves Careil.
